Update

I'm back home and missing Christie already. I can't wait until the day she comes home and I will never have to leave her again. I can give you an update now, but sadly the new pictures will have to wait until next week but will get them on as soon as I can.
While I was with Christie I learned that she she doing well with eating but that she still rebels with the therapist and doesn't want to chew for them. I also learned that at this time Christie is receiving very little to no physical therapy or occupational therapy. Christie doesn't want to do it and they can't make her. I was told though that Christie has been working with an electric wheelchair that will in time give her more freedom.Feel free to continue to send comments but don't be disheartened if I don't get them posted immediately I am having computer difficulties and they won't be resolved until next week.

18 years old today

We had a wonderful day with Christie. I can't believe she is 18.Christie says she can't remember any of her birthdays since she was 13 or 14. We went by Wal-Mart this morning and picked up Christie's cake. It was decorated with Tinker Bell. We hung out with her a little this morning until time for her party. Some of her friends where unable to make it but we still had 15 people so it turned out better than I thought. We had a nice lunch of KFC and then her cake. She opened her presents, and then Tony,me, Christie, and Xander played a game of Foosball. Tony was a team of 1 and we where the 2ND team. we had a wonderful time together. We then went up to Christie's room and watched NCIS together and talked. Christie and I had a very nice time just talking and catching up.I can't wait to see her again tomorrow. I can hardly wait until she gets home.

First day out with Christie

Today was a wonderful day. We got to FCC this morning about 8:30. Christie was very happy to see us. Christie was very surprised to see Tony and Xander as well as Mama and me.Christie couldn't believe how much Xander had grown. Christie even commented on "how big he was". The CNA that was going with us arrived about 9:30. We met the transport downstairs at 10:00. We went to Aventura Mall. The mall is the 5TH largest in the United States. It has 280 stores. We where going to see a movie while we where there but either they would be on later than we could stay or they where in 3D.Christie with having a brain injury can't watch 3D movies. We ate lunch at the food court. Christie wanted pasta so that is what we had. Christie was worn out by the time we left the mall.Tomorrow is Christie's 18 Th Birthday. I can't wait to spend the day with her.

Court Date

Christie's Birthday Plans

I received a commit from Ms. Toni. I'm not sure if you got the info from Christie's page of other friends as I was trying to spread the word because sadly I don't keep up with Christie's Florida friends as well as I should. Anyway. PLEASE COME. If you could just get me a number of how many will be coming. so I can coordinate with FCC.
I thought of something a Little different for this year.
We are going to have everyone that would like to ,eat with Christie like we where at a regular dinner with Christie. Christie gets the added bonus of having "take Out" food from a restaurant. It will have to be cleared to make sure it is something Christie would enjoy and can safely have.. Everyone please be responsible for bringing your own lunch. After lunch we will then have Christie's Birthday cake. Then we will be free to talk, play games. open presents and just enjoy Christie's Day of Birth. If anyone has a CD or DVD or Game they think Christie would like to listen to or play please bring it for all to enjoy before taking it back home with you.

Christie's Birthday

Christie is turning 18. This will be her 3rd birthday in a row that has been spent in a hospital or as like last year in a nursing home. I Pray this will be the last and all of her other birthdays as well as all other holidays will be at HOME. The good part is I will be with her on her birthday and I get to take her out of the facility.Last year I wanted to take her to see Harry Potter for her birthday but I didn't get to.This year I do get to take her out. I can't wait. It has been over 3 years since Mama and daughter have been anywhere together.I have so much I want to do with her. I have to remind myself not to be selfish and over do us going places. Just my visits wear her out so I would imagine us on an outing would tire her even more. I can't wait to see her and update the site with new pictures.

MOTHERS

This is a truly BEAUTIFUL piece. Please Read this at a slow pace, digesting every word and in Leisure...do not hurry... This is a treasure...
>For those lucky to still be blessed with your Mom,This is beautiful. For those of us who aren't, this is Even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you'll love this.
>The young mother set her foot on the path of life. 'Is This the long way?' she asked. And the guide said:'Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it... But The end will be better than the beginning.'
But the young mother was happy, and she would not Believe that anything could be better than these years. So she Played with her children, and gathered flowers for Them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and The sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,'Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.'
>Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was Dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother Drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, 'Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.'
>And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and The children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,' A little patience and we are there.'So the children climbed, and when they reached the top They said, 'Mother, we would not have done it without you.'
>And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up At the stars and said, 'This is a better day than the last, for my Children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness.Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I've given them strength.'
>And the next day came strange clouds which darkened The earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped And stumbled, and the mother said: 'Look up. Lift your eyes to the light. ' And the children looked and saw above the clouds An everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the Darkness. And that night the Mother said, 'This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God.'
>And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and The years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with Courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, For she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,And beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And Mother said, 'I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end Is better than the beginning, for my children can Walk alone, and their children after them.'
>And the children said, 'You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.'And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates Closed after her. And they said: 'We cannot see her But she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She Is a living presence.......'
>Your Mother is always with you... She's the whisper Of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach In your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand On your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives Inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love And your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can Separate you.Not time, not space... Not even death!
>I LOVE YOU MY BABY GIRL
