Making Plans

Moving Forward, Christie's neurologist says Christie is ready to come home, Christie begs to come home and I am soooo ready for her to be home. While we are making plans to do this we need to renovate Christie's childhood home so it will be as ready and comfortable to her as when she grew up here.. To do the needed renovations, and pay some expenses we need 20,000.00.We need to get Christie's bath outfitted with a wheel in shower or a rail that goes through the house as well as widen doors and make ramps among other things to make her safe and comfortable. If anyone would like to help we need materials, time and money please give as you can.

Home from Mediation

Hello everyone,
We got back from Florida yesterday. We got to see Christie very little with her in school, doctors appointments , meetings and mediation. We spent 5 hours in mediation. It was supposed to be 3. Even with the extra 2 hours we where unable to reach an agreement. We are at an impasse so we will have to go to trial. I am unable to repeat anything that was said at mediation not that there's really anything to tell.
Christie did go to the Neurologist Monday to see Dr. Miller, it went well. The Saturday before Dr. Nedd went to FCC to see Christie and as I understand spent the whole visit talking to her. It is also my understanding that Dr. Nedd recommends that Christie come home. Neither of the neurologist reports where available when we went to mediation maybe if they had we could have reached an agreement.
My plans before this goes back to court is to have my house ready for Christie's return. I need to have it modified to accommodate Christie. I also need about 20 thousand dollars for various fees to help bring Christie home. If anyone can help with time, materials, money or just prayers I would appreciate it more than you know.I can not leave Christie to the mercy of others who show no mercy towards her. Mama and I have always said "there is no greater love than the mothers love of her child." except Gods love. My Mama continues to show that to me on a daily basis and I am grown. She puts up with all my ill moods and keeps on loving me anyway.

I can't wait for the day when I can bring her home.

Christie not feeling good

I called yesterday afternoon to talk to Christie. She didn't sound like herself. I called back and asked the nurse was Christie sick? She said it was starting and Christie came home early from school. I called today to check on her and she didn't go to school. She is not throwing up so that is good. I think she must just have a cold.It amazes me the bond between a Mama and her children. Richard hasn't contacted me to tell me Christie was sick or that she was out of school neither did FCC but I called earlier yesterday than my usual time.Somehow Mamas just know. I just wish I was there to hold her. Everyone knows Mama hugs and Kisses makes everything better.

Court and Visit with Christie

Hello Everyone,
Monday was Presidents Day and no school so Mama and I spent the whole day with Christie. Time went by to fast but we had a great time. We had lunch and supper with Christie as well as getting to see Christie walk for ourselves. I have a video of it but it is sideways. I have to figure out how to rotate it then I will put it up. I also got a hug from Christie with her standing up, she has grown so much she is about 5'7". Tuesday Christie was in school so we went to visit her school and wait for her to get out so we could go visit with her. We had a nice time but since Richard hasn't added me as a contact person the school was very limited as to what they could share. Court was Wednesday morning the Judge did grant our request for the neurologist to see Christie. Richard and I have mediation March 4TH. I hope something positive will come of it. I had planned to meet Paula at FCC to see Christie when we go back down for mediation but FCC informed me that Richard has filed a letter with them on Feb. 2ND that states " I need it to be a matter of record that Christie is not to have any visitors outside of direct family members or to be taken outside by any family member but me. This is very important as Christie and I approach a civil case date." So with that Paula I am sorry but if you come you will not be allowed in. I can feel your frustration as I can't even take Christie outside in the sun and wind that she loves so much.It is bad when even prisoners are allowed more freedom than ones child. Enjoy the new pictures.

Missing Christie

I talked to Christie earlier and she again started asking "Can I come home" Last night when I talked to her she said she wanted to come home but didn't know how to find it. She constantly begs to come home. I don't know how much sorrow a Mama's heart can hold before it breaks. I would give anything to have Christie home where she so desperately begs to be. I don't know when that will be.
Christie hasn't had an updated evaluation since she was in a level 3 or 4 coma. I had a "board certified neurologist that is going to evaluate her as things have definitely changed with her. Richard will not agree to the evaluation. I am paying for it and it is in the best interest of Christie but he won't allow it. One would think he would be very happy to see where she has progressed to and to where she will be able to be in her life but like everything else where Christie is concerned I have to fight for that to.

Eating update

Christie is doing very well other than wanting to come home. Every night when I talk to her she ask me where I am and I say home. She then asks Why are you home and why am I not home with you? Her diet was changed Monday. She has been upgraded from pureed food to mechanically softened. Which is basically regular food cut up. She went from honey thickened liquids to nectar thickened liquids which isn't as thick as the honey. They changed her diet because the pureed foods where keeping her from sounding out her words because she wasn't clearing her throat enough and her speech was real gargled. Christie went to a spacity doctor to see about her left arm and lack of movement with it. I will update about that as soon as I hear back from Richard. Please continue to Pray things are moving and I hope Christie will be home soon.

Not really any news

Not much to tell you about. Christie is OK,. Christie did grab an electric wheelchair of another patient. The child was scared and tried to run. In doing so Christie turned over in her chair. She may have hit her head. They took her for x rays and all seems OK. This happened about the 29TH of December. I found out about it almost 2 full weeks later. I miss her very much and hopes she comes home soon.

A New Year and More Possibilities

2010 is fast approaching. To the side of the page is Christie's progression in pictures. In 2008 and 09 Christie has surpassed every ones expectations. Christie was at near death and couldn't do anything for herself. As of today Christie is speaking, eating, writing and other things she had lost the ability to do. If Christie has progressed this much in almost 2 years, I wonder what she will be able to do in another year? It is my hope and Prayer that in 2010 Christie will walk and be home. Christie has spent 2 Birthdays, 2 Thanksgiving, and 2 Christmases in a nursing home.It is time for her to come home.

Happy New Year

MOTHERS

This is a truly BEAUTIFUL piece. Please Read this at a slow pace, digesting every word and in Leisure...do not hurry... This is a treasure...
>For those lucky to still be blessed with your Mom,This is beautiful. For those of us who aren't, this is Even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you'll love this.
>The young mother set her foot on the path of life. 'Is This the long way?' she asked. And the guide said:'Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it... But The end will be better than the beginning.'
But the young mother was happy, and she would not Believe that anything could be better than these years. So she Played with her children, and gathered flowers for Them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and The sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,'Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.'
>Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was Dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother Drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, 'Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.'
>And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and The children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,' A little patience and we are there.'So the children climbed, and when they reached the top They said, 'Mother, we would not have done it without you.'
>And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up At the stars and said, 'This is a better day than the last, for my Children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness.Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I've given them strength.'
>And the next day came strange clouds which darkened The earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped And stumbled, and the mother said: 'Look up. Lift your eyes to the light. ' And the children looked and saw above the clouds An everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the Darkness. And that night the Mother said, 'This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God.'
>And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and The years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with Courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, For she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,And beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And Mother said, 'I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end Is better than the beginning, for my children can Walk alone, and their children after them.'
>And the children said, 'You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.'And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates Closed after her. And they said: 'We cannot see her But she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She Is a living presence.......'
>Your Mother is always with you... She's the whisper Of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach In your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand On your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives Inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love And your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can Separate you.Not time, not space... Not even death!
>I LOVE YOU MY BABY GIRL
