nice surprise

I had a nice surprise Madge and Dave called me from Christie's room so I could talk to Christie. She said she missed me and loved me. I asked her if she wanted to watch CSI tonight, and she said yes. So they are going to turn her TV to survivor at 8:00, then CSI comes on right after. Madge and Dave are going to call back in the morning so I can tell her good morning. I'm going to go down to mama's and daddy's so they can talk to her to.
Thanks Madge and Dave

Back home, missing Christie again

Hi Everyone,
We are back from Florida. We went to see Christie Monday morning, and found out when we arrived that Christie was being moved to Miami Florida Tuesday morning at 6:00 A.M. despite all the talking and begging to not move Christie so far from everyone was to no avail. Mama and I didn't want Christie to be alone in such a transition, we arrived at the facility in Miami before Christie did.I'm glad we where there when she arrived. The first thing she wrote to us was "Why am I here, did I do something wrong" We told her no, it was just a new place for her to live for awhile.
We did get Christie's room the way she wanted it. She pointed to the places she wanted her pictures and posters and we hung them up. I did notice that a lot of her cards, all of them from the youth at church wasn't with her stuff, and some of her family pictures wasn't there either. We stayed with Christie until supper time, we didn't make it back to our room until 8:00 P.M. Christie didn't want us to leave. Christie asked are you going to leave I said yes but later today, but I'll be back soon. She mouthed how soon? I wrote, I'll be back before you know it. Christie wrote under it "Good because I would kill something to get you back" Needless to say that about killed me. I would have loved to stay longer, but we had to get back for court Wednesday.I had told the staff to watch Christie closely, she would pull out her feeding tube if left alone, I called to check on her on my way back to Port Charlotte, and sure enough, she had already pulled the feeding tube out.
I had hoped court would go better, but the judge awarded Richard guardianship. I wanted Christie here in S.C. at a facility that has a bed available, so that I could see her everyday and work with her, but the opposing side said Christie has come this far without family around her, so since Richard was the primary resident parent, in our joint custody arrangement, he was given guardianship. The opposing side, also thought I treated Christie like a baby instead of a 16 year old girl, and that they thought that would hinder her recovery, even though the 16 year old girl in question has part of her brain removed, can't walk, talk, eat or go to the bathroom on her own, she should be treated like a 16 year old. Does that make sense to anyone? Christie attorney even said Christie had indicated on 4 separate occasions she wanted to be with her Mama, that didn't help either.
The only thing I can do now is try to visit her even more so she is not alone. All the way in Miami, with her Dad back at work full time(40 hours) and not being able to drive, I don't see him visiting much, plus it is 3 1/2 hours from where he lives. Please keep praying for Christie. She needs it more now that ever, she is alone and a long way from home.I'll still update as often as I can, but with Richard as guardian, and Philip saying I can't call his house for anyone in the house I will be limited as to the information I can get.We are still praying that God will work it out so that she is closer to family.
Thanks,
Becky

MOTHERS

This is a truly BEAUTIFUL piece. Please Read this at a slow pace, digesting every word and in Leisure...do not hurry... This is a treasure...
>For those lucky to still be blessed with your Mom,This is beautiful. For those of us who aren't, this is Even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you'll love this.
>The young mother set her foot on the path of life. 'Is This the long way?' she asked. And the guide said:'Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it... But The end will be better than the beginning.'
But the young mother was happy, and she would not Believe that anything could be better than these years. So she Played with her children, and gathered flowers for Them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and The sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,'Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.'
>Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was Dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother Drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, 'Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.'
>And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and The children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,' A little patience and we are there.'So the children climbed, and when they reached the top They said, 'Mother, we would not have done it without you.'
>And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up At the stars and said, 'This is a better day than the last, for my Children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness.Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I've given them strength.'
>And the next day came strange clouds which darkened The earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped And stumbled, and the mother said: 'Look up. Lift your eyes to the light. ' And the children looked and saw above the clouds An everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the Darkness. And that night the Mother said, 'This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God.'
>And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and The years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with Courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, For she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,And beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And Mother said, 'I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end Is better than the beginning, for my children can Walk alone, and their children after them.'
>And the children said, 'You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.'And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates Closed after her. And they said: 'We cannot see her But she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She Is a living presence.......'
>Your Mother is always with you... She's the whisper Of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach In your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand On your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives Inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love And your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can Separate you.Not time, not space... Not even death!
>I LOVE YOU MY BABY GIRL
