Still getting into stuff

Christie had a pretty long day. Christie had to go to the urologist for a ultra sound. While she was there she pulled out her feeding tube again. Fourth time in 2 days. They had to take her to the ER at Joe D Maggio hospital in Hollywood Fla to put in a new one. When they feed her Christie tells them no she wants to eat. I think that is why they are going to do a swallow study soon.
I also learned that she can and is playing her Nintendo DS I sent her. While she is out of bed she does activities, but when she is in bed she's not doing anything. Thanks for the ideas I need to think of things she can do in bed. Thanks for the continued prayers and that I will get to see her soon. It has been almost a month and I don't know when I will get to go again.

Hello Beck,

Just wondered if you would post this message on your blog for me to Richard and Angie. I saw on Richards and Christie's website where they are trying to get a grant to put a special phone for the deaf and hard of hearing in Christie's room and one for Richard. The law mandates that all facilities have a special phone for the deaf and hard of hearing. Richard wouldn't have to have a special phone, his regular phone would do, as would ours.
We are really looking forward to them installing one so we can communicate with Christie as well. I know how bored she gets with not having family close enough to visit on a regular basis. If she had a phone that she could communicate I'm sure it would help greatly with her depression.
Not trying to butt into your business, but a 1,000.00 is a lot of money to pay out with the economy the way it is. Especially when it's a law that it has to be provided for her.

Thanks and hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Mary,
You are correct. However the phone they would provide is a BASIC phone for the deaf which requires christie to type her response on a keyboard then the operator would read it to whomever she is speaking to. Then that person answers her verbally and the operator types the response back to chrisite. That could become a very time consuming conversation since Christie types much slower than most people. Investing a little more money into a better phone system is a great idea for several reasons. One, it has 10preset buttons for common phrases (i.e. hello, thank you, i love you) so she doesnt have to type those out. Also, it has a bigger screen for her to see what is being said to her. And, if Richard has one, it cuts out the operator all together. They can just chat back and forth without interruptions from a stranger. She will still be able to "speak" to anyone through the operator relay system. Noone else has to have a special phone. One of my patients is deaf and I would speak with her often through the relay system from my office and it is very time consuming and can become very frustrating. Im sure everyone is looking forward to having a better source of communication with Christie. Thanks for your info.

Angie, I'm sorry but I wasn't even thinking about Richard when I mentioned the phone that was supposed to be provided. I guess I am just so anxious to get to talk to Christie I wanted it done as soon as possible. As well as trying to save you some money.

I understand too that Richard has a hard time concentrating and I'm so sorry for my lack of sensitivity. I just didn't even think about it before hand.

When you see Christie on Thursday will you please tell her that we love her and would love to see her. It may be awhile before we can get there, but will be there as soon as we can.

MOTHERS

This is a truly BEAUTIFUL piece. Please Read this at a slow pace, digesting every word and in Leisure...do not hurry... This is a treasure...
>For those lucky to still be blessed with your Mom,This is beautiful. For those of us who aren't, this is Even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you'll love this.
>The young mother set her foot on the path of life. 'Is This the long way?' she asked. And the guide said:'Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it... But The end will be better than the beginning.'
But the young mother was happy, and she would not Believe that anything could be better than these years. So she Played with her children, and gathered flowers for Them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and The sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,'Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.'
>Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was Dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother Drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, 'Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.'
>And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and The children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,' A little patience and we are there.'So the children climbed, and when they reached the top They said, 'Mother, we would not have done it without you.'
>And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up At the stars and said, 'This is a better day than the last, for my Children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness.Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I've given them strength.'
>And the next day came strange clouds which darkened The earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped And stumbled, and the mother said: 'Look up. Lift your eyes to the light. ' And the children looked and saw above the clouds An everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the Darkness. And that night the Mother said, 'This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God.'
>And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and The years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with Courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, For she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,And beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And Mother said, 'I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end Is better than the beginning, for my children can Walk alone, and their children after them.'
>And the children said, 'You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.'And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates Closed after her. And they said: 'We cannot see her But she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She Is a living presence.......'
>Your Mother is always with you... She's the whisper Of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach In your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand On your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives Inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love And your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can Separate you.Not time, not space... Not even death!
>I LOVE YOU MY BABY GIRL
